Shadow TLV
Louvered shutters are a typical architectural element in Tel Aviv. They adorn the facades of the city's buildings, shade the interiors of apartments, and exist within the range between the private and the public. It can be said that these shutters are a kind of local mashrabiya, made of plastic louvers.
For us, using this typology to create shade in public spaces in Tel Aviv felt natural. We propose moving the shutters from the private space to the public one and placing them where needed, using a flexible structural system.
The color scheme of the project resonates with Tel Aviv’s image as a vibrant, tolerant, and heterogeneous seaside city.
